S-Flex Coupling Variety Approach
The selection approach for figuring out the appropriate S-Flex coupling requires employing the charts proven about the following pages. You will find 3 components to be picked, two flanges and 1 sleeve.
Facts required just before a coupling can be chosen:
HP and RPM of Driver or working torque
Shaft dimension of Driver and Driven products and corresponding keyways
Application or products description
Environmental situations (i.e. excessive temperature, corrosive circumstances, space limitations)
Steps In Choosing An S-Flex Coupling
Stage one: Figure out the Nominal Torque in in-lb of your application by using the following formula:
Nominal Torque = (HP x 63025)/RPM
Phase two: Using the Application Service Component Chart 1 choose the services aspect which most effective corresponds to your application.
Step 3: Calculate the Design and style Torque of the application by multiplying the Nominal Torque calculated in Phase 1 from the Application Services Component determined in Step two.
Design and style Torque = Nominal Torque x Application Support Element
Step four: Applying the Sleeve Overall performance Information Chart two select the sleeve material which most effective corresponds to your application.
Stage five: Using the S-Flex Nominal Rated Torque Chart 3 find the appropriate sleeve material column for the sleeve chosen in Phase 4.
Phase 6: Scan down this column to your initial entry wherever the Torque Value in the column is greater than or equal for the Style Torque calculated in Stage three.
Refer to the optimum RPM value on the coupling dimension to guarantee that the application demands are met. If the maximum RPM worth is significantly less compared to the application requirement, S-Flex couplings are not recommended for the application.
Note:
If Nominal Torque is less than 1/4 of your coupling’s nominalrated torque, misalignment capacities are reduced by 1/2. Once torque value is found, refer to your corresponding coupling size in the first column of your S-Flex Nominal Rated Torque Data Chart 3 .
Stage seven: Evaluate the application driver/driven shaft sizes to your optimum bore size available around the coupling chosen. If coupling max bore is not large ample for that shaft diameter, choose the following greatest coupling that can accommodate the driver/driven shaft diameters.
Phase 8: Working with the Item Selection tables, locate the appropriate Keyway and Bore size required and locate the quantity.
